1. A surge protector to protect against overvoltage applied / induced in a power line current power comprising: - a number (N) of devices identical gas discharge (10) connected in series with each other and housed near isolated in a housing (6); each including a pair of insulated electrodes mutually opposite (11) at a fixed distance D and configured to allow an electric arc (A) flashes between the electrodes (11) when the threshold voltage Vm to said is exceeded discharge device (10) discharge device; each discharge device being configured to be characterized by a residual voltage Up which is the voltage present between the electrodes (11) when the arc (A) is extinguished; the protector being configured so that the sum (N * Up) of the residual voltage Up devices discharge gas is higher than the power voltage (Vline) applied to the electrical power line DC. 2. A protector according to claim 1, wherein the insulating housing (6) is tube-shaped and extends along a longitudinal axis (12) which is perpendicular to the electrodes (11) each including a flat portion made of conductive material. 3. A protector according to claim 2, wherein a spacer comb structure (15) is provided to hold the electrodes 11 in a position at a fixed distance D from one another; taking the spacer structure (15) numerous equivalently spaced slots (17) along said longitudinal axis (12) and designed each for holding a peripheral portion of the flat electrode (11). 4. A protector according to claim 2, wherein the spacer structure comb (15) is made of an insulating material and is arranged on the inside of the tubular housing (6) coaxial to said axis (12).
