A computer system and process for automated identification, processing andissuance of digital certificates, wherein web server domain-control vetting isemployed in issuance of web server certificates. A Requestor requests a webserver certificate from a certificate authority, the certificate authorityreceives the request. Based on domain information the certificate authoritygenerates Approver email addresses, and the Requestor is required to select anApprover email address or addresses. The certificate authority contacts theApprover using the selected email address or addresses and requests that theApprover approve issuance of the certificate. If approved, the certificateauthority accepts the request, and creates and signs the certificate and thesigned certificate is sent to the Requestor.
