ELECTROMECHANICAL ASSEMBLY FOR CONNECTING A SERIES OF PERFORATING GUNS IN OIL AND GAS WELLS

Improvements on mechanical connectors used for the connection and assembly ofgunsused in the perforation of petroleum producing wells, where each gun (10) hasa hollowcylindrical shape in the form of a housing and whose ends have threadedjoints. Withinsaid guns are loaded certain explosive shaped-charges (11) that are radiallyset inrespective peripheral slots, where each gun (10) is coaxially joined withother similarguns in vertical position within the casing of the well, forming an assemblythatincludes on one extreme the firing head (20) and at the other extreme thebottom sub(50); from the surface an electrical connection extends to this assembly,through whichthe guns (10) may be selectively be detonated. In accordance with thisinvention, thejoints between the consecutive guns (10) and between the bottom sub (50) andthelowermost gun (10), include tubular adaptor pieces (40) and tubularintermediaries (30),which have respectively a threaded joint end (32 and 42) and an opposing endconstituted by a bayonet-type locking joint formed by a single reinforcedlatchingbayonet locking tab (35), including the component parts, latch indicators, andanti-rotationallocking pins (38 - 48 and 60) of said joint.
