Provided is a fabric such as a non-woven cloth, and a water treatment material including the fabric. The fabric, which contains a biodegradable aliphatic polyester fiber made of polyglycolic acid, polylactic acid, or a mixture thereof, is characterized in having (a) a basis weight of 1 to 500 g/m², (b) a fiber size of 300 nm to 100 μm, and (c) a porosity of 50 to 95%.
