This parallax image display device is provided with an image acquisition unit (22) which acquires right-eye images and left-eye images for generation of stereoscopically viewable parallax images, an information amount distribution calculation unit (36) which calculates the information amount distributions of the right-eye images and left-eye images, and a parallax image generation unit (24) which generates parallax images from the right-eye images and left-eye images on the basis of the information amount distributions of the right-eye images and left-eye images.
