Disclosed is a method for providing an access network selection policy based on network status. The method comprises: providing, through interaction between a network management system and an access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF), network load information for the ANDSF, and the ANDSF formulating an access network selection policy for a UE according to the network load information. Also disclosed is a system for providing an access network selection policy based on network status. An access network selection policy sending unit in the system is used for, after the ANDSF formulates an access network selection policy for a UE according to the network load information, sending the access network selection policy to the UE. The use of the method and the system in the embodiments of the present invention avoids aggravating the load of the ANDSF network.
