The invention relates to an isolated antigen peptide derived from S100-beta protein, in which the peptide is bound to a class II MHC molecule. The invention also relates to a method for obtaining the antigen peptide, as well as to the use thereof in the production of a drug for the prevention, monitoring, diagnosis and/or treatment of type I diabetes. In addition, the invention relates to the use of an isolated antigen peptide derived from S100-beta protein, but which is not bound to a class II MHC, for the production of a drug for the prevention, treatment, diagnosis or monitoring of type I diabetes.
