The disclosed ruthenium microparticles are ruthenium microparticles having an essentially face-centered cubic structure. Moreover, the disclosed production method is a method for producing ruthenium microparticles having an essentially face-centered cubic structure. This production method comprises a step (i) for maintaining a liquid comprising ruthenium (III) acetylacetonate, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and triethylene glycol at a temperature that is 180ºC or higher.
