The lower curve of the airfoil has a forward portion with its concavity facing a forward-lower direction and converging in the leading edge. Such a forward portion locally generates forces having a forward direction component on the wing, i.e. in the direction of advancement of the aircraft, with a consequent reduction of the overall drag on the wing.
