In order to provide a method for producing an organic light-emitting element, whereby, when forming a functional layer of the organic light-emitting element by a wet process, a functional layer with good flatness can be formed, an ink used to form the functional layer comprises a first solvent, a second solvent that differs from the first solvent, and a functional material, which dissolves in the first solvent and the second solvent, and which constitutes the functional layer of the organic light-emitting element. With regard to the first solvent, when a functional layer is temporarily created by replacing the second solvent with the first solvent, the temporarily created functional layer forms a shape in a light-emitting region of the organic light-emitting element such that the film thickness at both ends of the functional layer is thick relative to the film thickness in the central section of the functional layer, and the top surface at both ends is positioned above the top surface in the central section. With regard to the second solvent, when a functional layer is temporarily created by replacing the first solvent with the second solvent, the temporarily created functional layer forms a shape in the light-emitting region of the organic light-emitting element such that the film thickness in the central section of the functional layer is thick relative to the film thickness at both ends of the functional layer, and the top surface in the central section is positioned above the top surface at both ends. The boiling points of the first solvent and the second solvent are equal.
