The present invention relates to a dwelling module (10) for protecting juvenile fish or the post-larvae of fish or crustaceans in a port area, said module comprising a heap of materials that form cavities and hollow spaces in the form of galleries, tunnels, or the like, defined by vaults and partitions. The module (10) consists of at least one flat gabion (11) which is relatively thin and can be attached along a quay, to a harbour wall, or under a pontoon. Said gabion (11) is filled with various materials (13, 14, 15) of different sizes and consistencies, which provide a range of functions according to the location thereof within the gabion, in particular the functions of absorbing polluting substances.
