The present invention provides an image sensor for edge extraction which can reduce the number of times of data access for edge extraction, and a method for generating an edge image using same. The image sensor for edge extraction of the present invention includes: a control unit; a pixel array which includes a plurality of unit pixels aligned in a matrix; a row decoder unit which allows odd-numbered rows and even-numbered rows in each column of the pixel array to share the same column data lines, respectively, and is configured to select each row of the pixel array; a column control unit which is connected to the column data lines and controls a signal received from the unit pixel; a comparison unit for comparing the signal of the unit pixel received from the column control unit; a storage unit for storing a result value of the comparison unit; and a determination unit which determines whether the unit pixel corresponds to an edge using the result value stored in the storage unit.
