Disclosed in the present invention is a condensing gas water heater, which comprises an inner container (9), a burner (6) arranged under the inner container (9), a smoke exhaust cover provided outside the inner container (9) with a smoke exhaust clearance being formed between the smoke exhaust cover and the inner container (9), a heat exchanger flue provided lengthways through the inner container (9), a heat insulation layer (10) and a shell (11) covering the outside of the smoke exhaust cover, the smoke exhaust cover being provided with a smoke exhaust port (4) which is communicated with the atmosphere. The smoke exhaust cover specifically comprises a gas distributing cover (1) arranged on the top part, a condensing cover (2) arranged on the lower side of and connected to the gas distributing cover (1), and a return cover (5) arranged on the lower part of the heat insulation layer (10). Between the return cover (5) and the condensing cover (2), there is a return cavity (7) which is respectively communicated with the smoke exhaust port (4) and a condensing cavity (3), and a first heat insulation layer (8) is arranged on the outside wall of the condensing cover (2).
