METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SUPPRESSING SERVICE PACKET STORM DURING RING NETWORK PROTECTION

Disclosed are a method and system for suppressing a service packet storm during ring network protection, comprising: establishing clockwise and/or counterclockwise multipoint-to-point (MP2P) shared working channels for each destination node constituting a ring network, and establishing annular protection channels for the MP2P shared working channels; according to the MP2P shared working channels, setting a time-to-live (TTL) value for each node other than the destination nodes on the ring network. When a fault occurs on a network constituting the ring network, the ingress node on the ring network transmits a service packet and the set TTL value to a receiving node. The receiving node reduces the TTL value by one and transmits the reduced TTL value and the received service packet to the next receiving node, until a receiving node discards the service packet when finding the received TTL value is 1 with the service packet still needing to be passed to the next receiving node. The present invention can quickly suppress a service packet storm when multiple faults occur on a network.
