The method involves transmitting (315) a generated authentication certificate to a user equipment of a non-subscriber user, and receiving (320) the certificate from the equipment of the non-subscriber user by an application server. Validity of the received authentication certificate is determined (325) in accordance with an identifier of a subscriber user. The identifier of the subscriber user is transmitted (330) if the received authentication certificate is valid, where the identifier of the subscriber user is used to initiate a service of the server.
