The method involves providing maximum length of a rail vehicle wagon (100) and a seat divider (151), and constructing a vehicle body including bearing structures for the rail vehicle wagon, where the body has a base segment (110) that is designed for accommodating multiple rows of seats (120) corresponding to the seat divider. A required cross-section and design strength of the bearing structures are determined for the body. The rail vehicle wagon is constructed in different length variants while maintaining the cross-section and design strength of the body and the bearing structures. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a rail vehicle wagon (2) a rail vehicle family.
