A method for integrating a third-party graphics library (105) into an operating system. The method comprises: constructing two sets of virtualization devices (103, 104), the two sets of virtualization devices (103, 104) being respectively used by two kinds of graphics libraries. Thus, the two kinds of graphics libraries can coexist well. A set of virtualization devices (103/104) comprises a virtual display device and one or more virtual input devices. At any time, only one set of virtualization devices (103/104) is mapped onto a unique physical device (102). At this moment, the output of the virtual display device is transmitted to a physical display device, and the input event generated by a physical input device is transmitted to the virtual input device. A conversion mechanism which exists in the core dynamically maps another set of virtualization devices (103/104) onto the unique physical device (102). The simple and effective method can integrate the third-party graphics library (105) and related applications thereof into an open platform without requiring a user to simultaneously be familiar with the graphics library and the open platform details software. In addition, the user can quickly and efficiently integrate the graphics library into the open platform.
