The method involves generating numerical values as a measure for correspondence between high level exhibiting sound sequences (5-7) and a reference sound sequence with alarm giving sound sequences for each acoustic alarm transmitters such that a bed place (2) is provided with a diagnostic and therapy apparatus (1). The numeric values are compared based on fixed alarm range limitations. The bed place is actuated with a local alarm providing output unit, where sound receivers (9-12) receive the high level exhibiting sound sequences. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a monitoring system for a medical intensive care unit (ICU) (2) a method for centrally monitoring medical facilities for a medical ICU.
