An airway adapter is disclosed herein. The airway adapter includes a sampling chamber (49) for allowing a respiratory gas flow, a first port (50) for delivering respiratory gas to the sampling chamber and a second port (51) for removing respiratory gas from the sampling chamber. The airway adapter also includes a memory (54) adapted to store information relevant to at least one fact of the airway adapter having an influence on its usability. A method and analyzer for analyzing at least one property of a respiratory gas is also provided.
