The parking brake module (42) comprises a trailer control valve port (56) for connecting with a trailer control valve (46) for controlling trailer brake (20) of a trailer (14). A control valve is provided with a control valve inlet, through which pressurizing agent is guided to trailer control valve port in case of a voltage drop at the parking brake module in a position of parking brake module for pressure reduction. A switch position is provided for blocking the trailer control valve port against the control valve inlet. Another switch position is provided for connecting the trailer control valve port with the control valve inlet. The control valve is a bistable valve, particularly bistable electromagnetic valve, with a switching function. An independent claim is included for a method for providing a parking brake function for the coupling of a trailer to a vehicle.
