PURPOSE: A system and a method for operating a gas compressor for returning boil-off gas are provided to prevent the internal pressure of a liquefied gas storage tank from being increased, to obtain reduced time, the convenience of a driver, and the safety of the liquefied gas storage tank by using automatic parallel operation logics.;CONSTITUTION: A system for operating a gas compressor for returning boil-off gas comprises a pressure sensor(20), a first flow rate sensor(32), a second flow rate sensor(34), and a control unit. The pressure sensor measures the internal pressure of a liquefied gas storage tank. The first flow sensor measures the flow rate of boil-off gas flowing from the liquefied gas storage tank to the first HD gas compressor. The second flow rate sensor measures the flow rate of the boil-off gas entering from the liquefied gas storage tank to a second HD gas compressor.
