PURPOSE: A high-speed machining method and a coated cutting tool are provided to obtain performance equal to an expensive ceramic cutting tool at lower costs.;CONSTITUTION: A coated cutting tool comprises coating and cemented carbide deposited into one or more of single, multiple, and alternate layers. The cemented carbide has a hardness of 1700HV3 or greater. The coating includes a first layer which is 3-30μm thick, is adjacent to the cemented carbide, and includes carbide, nitride, carbon nitride, or carboxy nitride or a mixture thereof; an α-alumina layer which is 3-40μm thick and adjacent to the first layer; another layer which is 3-30μm thick, is adjacent to the α-alumina layer, and includes carbide, nitride, carbon nitride, or carboxy nitride or a mixture thereof; and another α-alumina layer which is 3-40μm thick and adjacent to the another layer.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
