The present invention relates to a method for producing poly (vinyl pivalate) microspheres and to poly (vinyl alcohol) prepared using the same, and more particularly, to poly (vinyl pivalate) microspheres by dispersion polymerization using an ionic liquid. It relates to a method capable of producing and a high-altered poly (vinyl alcohol) prepared by saponifying the poly (vinyl pivalate) microspheres thus prepared. The present invention provides a method for preparing poly (vinyl pivalate) microspheres, in which high molecular weight poly (vinyl pivalate) microspheres can be obtained at a high conversion rate, thereby obtaining poly (vinyl pivalate) having high molecular weight. Saponification can provide poly (vinyl alcohol) exhibiting high alternating arrangement.
