PURPOSE: An electronic type watt-hour-meter and an authentication management method using the same are provided to improve security strength which is required when carrying forward an AMI(Advanced Metering Infrastructure) business. CONSTITUTION: An electronic type watt-hour-meter(100) comprises an USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) card, a USIM interface unit(120), an authentication management unit(130), a watt hour meter management unit(140), and a display unit(150). The USIM interface unit determines the installation of a USIM card. The USIM card stores personal information of an electric power user and basic authentication information. The authentication management unit matches USIM information with watt hour meter management information of the electronic type watt-hour-meter according to the installation of the USIM card. The authentication management unit performs authentication for the electric power user or performs authentication releases. The watt hour meter management unit requests registration by informing an operation system of authentication completion or requests changed matter administration by informing the operation system of the authentication releases. The display unit indicates an authenticate state and an authentication releases state of the electric power user according to control of the watt hour meter management unit.
