PURPOSE: An optical detection system using peak holding and a detecting method thereof are provided to obtain a precise measurement by controlling accurate time by a control unit and to perform the high-speed measurement by optimizing the discharging time of a peak holding unit.;CONSTITUTION: An optical detection system using peak holding comprises a signal generator(10), a light emitting unit(20), a light receiving unit(30), an amplifier(40), a peak holding unit(50), an A/D(Analog To Digital) conversion unit(60), and a control unit(70). The signal generator generates pulse generation signals. The light emitting unit outputs optical pulse signals according to the pulse generation signals. The light receiving unit receives the optical pulse signals and converts the same into electric reception signals and outputs. The peak holding unit detects a maximum value of the reception signals, thereby outputting peak signals. The A/D conversion unit outputs A/D converting signals by AD converting the peak signals.
