PURPOSE: A coated article having an yttrium-containing coating applied by PVD(Physical Vapor Deposition) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a hard coating, thereby manufacturing the coated article useful for the application of wear resistance.;CONSTITUTION: A coating article(20) comprises a base material(22) and a coating scheme(24). The coating scheme contains at least one kind element, aluminum, yttrium, and nitrogen. The element is selected from a group consisting of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chrome, molybdenum, tungsten, and silicon. A sum of the contents of aluminum and yttrium is 3-55at.% of a sum of aluminum, yttrium, agreement and other elements. The content of the yttrium is 0.5-5at.% of the sum of aluminum, yttrium, agreement and other elements.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
