PURPOSE: An electric power system failure determining method is provided to improve the protection reliability of an electric power system by reflecting impedance change in the electric power system due to the application of a fault current limiter in real-time and by facilitating protection coordination between a relay and the fault current limiter.;CONSTITUTION: In case a failure occurs in an electric power system[EPS2] in which a circuit breaker and a fault current limiter are included, whether the fault current limiter properly operates or not is checked and the result is sent to a relay which controls the operation of the circuit breaker(S10). Then the operation state of the fault current limiter is determined(S20). If the fault current limiter is operating, a predetermined first correction value is applied to the relay(S30). If the fault current limiter is not operating, a predetermined second correction value is applied to the relay(S40).
