PURPOSE: An ECU(Electronic Control Unit) upgrade method and a terminal thereof are provided to conveniently update software and to reduce costs, manpower, and time for upgrading the software.;CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(240) temporarily stores software for upgrading an ECU. A power control unit(250) checks software for being upgraded from the storage unit in the key-off of a vehicle. When there is the software for update, the power control unit transmits a power maintenance signal to a microcomputer for controlling power in the vehicle in order to maintain the power in the vehicle.
