PURPOSE: A method for detecting a parking space using a mesh type spatial analysis and a system thereof are provided to virtually divide a target space into areas forming a mesh at certain distances, and then sequentially exclude the areas in which obstacles are not detected based on a detecting signal from an ultrasonic sensor in case of detecting the parking space using the ultrasonic sensor, thereby removing information distortion in detecting the space.;CONSTITUTION: A system for detecting a parking space using a mesh type spatial analysis includes a transmitting part(10), a receiving part(20), a mesh type spatial setting part(31), a non-obstacle area determining part(32), and a controller(33). The transmitting part transmits an ultrasonic signal according to a predetermined control signal, and the receiving part receives an echo signal which is the returning ultrasonic signal from an object. The mesh type spatial setting part sets a virtual area on a target parking space to which an ultrasonic wave is radiated from the transmitting part, and then stores the data of a mesh type spatial image in which the area is divided into cells at certain distances. The non-obstacle area determining part analyzes the echo signal, and then determines a non-obstacle area against the mesh type divided area set by the mesh type spatial setting part.
