PURPOSE: A lesion characteristic calculation apparatus and a method thereof are provided to easily classify the kinds of the lesion showed in an ultrasonic image by using the boundary of the lesion.;CONSTITUTION: A boundary discriminator(110) determines the boundary of the lesion from an image signal. A boundary clearness normalizer(120) normalizes the boundary clearness as the characteristic by using the inputted image signal and the boundary which is discriminated in the boundary discriminator. The boundary clearness normalize comprises a vertical pixel converter, a DFT converter, and an integrator. The vertical pixel converter collects the pixels within a predetermined distance from the boundary.
