PURPOSE: Improvement of transformation efficiency by optimization and selection improvement in production of Cymbidium plants and a method for developing drought tolerance Cymbidium plant are provided to maximize drought tolerance. CONSTITUTION: A gene gun is used for transforming Cymbidium. A method for enhancing Cymbidium transformation efficiency comprises a step of coating a gold particle with a size of 1.0-1.6 micrometer with a target gene. The target gene is AtSIZ gene. The high efficiency gene transmission is performed by coating the gold particle with the target gene. The transformation efficiency is enhanced by placing transformed Cymbidium for 3 weeks before a selection process. [Reference numerals] (AA) Drought resistance
