PURPOSE: A method for enabling an environment operation system capable of free-boot execution with a switch in direct connection storage environment capable of scaling and a system thereof are provided to transmit operating system files to an LUN(Logical Unit Number) through an SAS(Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface) system by using a PXE(Preboot Executable) session, thereby installing an operating system in the LUN.;CONSTITUTION: An SAS switch receives a command which installs an operating system in an LUN related to an SAS HBA(Host Bus Adapter) which is connected to the SAS switch(302). A PXE session between the SAS switch and a PXE server is established in response to the command(304). The operating system is installed in the LUN by transmitting operating system files to the LUN through the SAS switch(306).
