PURPOSE: A method for estimating the timing of a symbol used in a cable network communicating with an OFDM method is provided to reduce hardware complexity in an OFDM receiver while maintaining symbol timing estimation performance.;CONSTITUTION: An OFDM symbol including a cyclic symbol is received(510). An energy property of the OFDM symbol is calculated by using a pre-established SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)(520).
