PURPOSE: A separating method of only ethylbenzene with high purity in xylene is provided to use an environmentally-friendly extract with a small selectivity, and to obtain high selectivity, low cost, low toxicity, low inflammability, and the addition of high value.;CONSTITUTION: A selectively separating method of only ethylbenzene comprises a step of adding an extracting agent into an ethylbenzene-containing xylene mixture, and selectively separating ethylbenzene through distillation. The extracting agent is propyl butanoate. The input ratio of the ethylbenzene-containing mixed xylene and the propyl butanoate is 1:4-1:16. The temperature of the distillation is 175-185°C.
