PURPOSE: A front object recognition device and a front object recognition method are provided to increase the recognition performance of an object by recognizing a front object again through a camera device after shifting the light direction of a heat ramp to provide enough brightness to the area on which the front object is positioned when the front object is recognized in a radar but not in a camera device.;CONSTITUTION: A front object recognition device comprises radar (11) which is prepared in front of a vehicle and which detects the front object positioned in front of the vehicle; a camera device (10) which films the front image of the vehicle to detect the front object; a head ramp operation section (30) which drives a head ramp (12) that lightens the front of the vehicle; a head ramp direction shift section (31) which changes the light direction of the head ramp; and a control section which determines whether the front object is recognized through the object recognition using the radar and which determines whether the front object is recognized through the object recognition using the camera device once the front object is recognized.
