PURPOSE: A sewage and wastewater treating method and an apparatus for the same are provided to extend the life of a filtering material by protecting the filtering material from being damaged. CONSTITUTION: A sewage and wastewater treating method includes the steps of: separating solid materials from sewage and wastewater which is put into an anaerobic reactor (503) and reducing the load of the organic materials in the sewage and the wastewater; putting the sewage and wastewater into an anoxic bath (504) to be denitrified; putting the denitrified sewage and wastewater into an aerobic bath (505) to be nitrified; passing the nitrified sewage and wastewater through a porous metallic hollow fiber filtering material in the aerobic bath to discharge filtered water; and returning a part of the sewage and wastewater to the anaerobic bath or the anoxic bath.
