PURPOSE: A nonmagnetic cast iron and a reciprocating compressor applied with the same are provided to reduce the addition amount of nickel, thereby improving economic efficiency and a processing property thereof and maintaining a certain stiffness thereof. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocating compressor includes a frame (20), a reciprocating motor (30), a fixed member, a movable member, a suction valve (43), a discharge valve (44), and springs (51,52). The frame is supported inside a sealed container. The motor is fixed to the frame, and the mover of the motor reciprocates. The fixed member is fixed to the frame. The movable member is coupled to the mover, and forms a compression space together with the fixed member. The movable member reciprocates on the fixed member, and compresses a refrigerant. The suction valve opens or closes the suction side of the compression space. The discharge valve opens or closes the discharge side of the compression space. The springs elastically support the mover and the movable member, and induce the resonant motion of a piston.
