PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for the keyboard layout modification capable of using touch are provided to select/input the keyboard layout of the desired language or symbol with a simple touch before inputting a word or symbol, thereby providing the convenient and efficient input environment.;CONSTITUTION: A control unit (820) inspects the touch which is generated in a search window through an input unit (850). If the touch is generated in the search window, the control unit compares the touch with a first direction touch. If the touch of the search window is the first direction touch, the control unit outputs the keyboard layout which is set for the first direction touch. If the touch of the search window is the second direction touch, the control unit outputs the keyboard layout which is set for the second direction touch. A display unit (860) displays an output of the control unit.
