PURPOSE: A composition containing cryptotanshinone or tanshinone IIA as an active ingredient is provided to enhance differentiation or activation of natural killer (NK) cells and to increase the expression of ID2 which is related to NK cell differentiation. CONSTITUTION: A composition for enhancing differentiation or activation of NK cells contains tanshinone as an active ingredient. Tanshinone is cryptotanshinone of chemical formula 1 or tanshinone IIA of chemical formula 2. Tanshinone induces or promotes differentiation of NK cells in hematopoietic stem cells. A composition for enhancing differentiation or activation of NK cells contains tanshinone and IL-15 as active ingredients.
