PURPOSE: An improved ulta-wide bandwidth (UWB) receiving method employing generalized Gaussian-Laplacian (GGL) distribution model in an ultra-wide bandwidth multi-user interference (UWB-MUI) system is provided to detect a desired signal by a GGL-KM UWB receiver that uses a probability distribution of received signals satisfying conditions of a probability density function (PDF) that has a strong peak, weak flanks, and heavy tails, thus to improve PER performance. CONSTITUTION: A UWB receiving method uses a UWB receiver comprising a parameter estimation part, a correlator, a nonlinearity function module, an accumulator (40), and a determination part (50). At least one or more nonlinearity functions are generated and outputted by applying a GGL-KM probability distribution, which is calculated by the nonlinearity function module, to a first expression depending on a log-likelihood ratio. The at least one or more nonlinearity functions are combine to each other through the accumulator, and the signals outputted from the accumulator are determined like a second expression. If the output of the accumulator is greater than zero, a binary phase shift keying (BPSK) signal is detected as +one. If the output of the accumulator is smaller than zero, the BPSK signal is detected as -one.
