PURPOSE: A valve assembly of a mud pump for a mud circulation system is provided to minimize influence caused by decreasing in the pressure of mud when a valve is operated, thereby improving the reliability in respect to the operation of the valve assembly. CONSTITUTION: A valve assembly (60) of a mud pump (40) for a mud circulation system includes a valve body (61) and an overpressure prevention device. The valve body is joined to the mud pump and includes a flow passage. The overpressure prevention device is connected to the valve body to be communicated with the flow passage and includes a pressure safety valve (PSV) (81), a bleed valve (82), and a pressure transmitter (82). The outlet of the pressure safety valve is connected to a mud tank. Mud is discharged to the mud tank via the outlet when the overpressure safety valve is opened by the overpressure of the mud.
