PURPOSE: A terminal with a message hiding function and a message hiding and restoring method thereof are provided to improve usability as well as to protect data. CONSTITUTION: A display unit (14) displays a message on a screen. An input unit (10) receives an input signal of a user which hides a message displayed on the screen or restores a massage hidden. A control unit (12) hides or restores a given message in the vertical direction of a message list which is aligned on the screen or in the equivalent direction according to the input signal of the user. The message list which is aligned on the screen aligns messages which are transmitted and received to and from a conversation partner horizontally or vertically according to a transmitting and receiving time sequence. The message list is capable of scrolling in the direction of arrangement according to an input signal of the user.
