PURPOSE: An apparatus for displaying an e-mail in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to display the transmission-failed e-mail and e-mail transmission fail reason continuously when the transmission of the e-mail fails.;CONSTITUTION: A control unit (101) transmits a specific e-mail made by a user. If the transmission of the transmitted specific e-mail fails, the control unit outputs the transmitted specific e-mail and an indication showing transmission fail reason through a display unit in correspondence to the transmitted specific email. The indication is one of an icon and a popup window.
