PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring position and a method thereof are provided to acquire a surrounded image appropriate for position correction, by selecting a photographing module which is appropriate for photographing the surrounded image on the basis of rotation state of the position measuring apparatus.;CONSTITUTION: A position measuring apparatus (100) includes a position measurement unit (210), an image photographing unit (250), a feature detecting unit (260), a feature position acquiring unit (270) and a position correction unit (280). The position measurement unit measures current position of the position measuring apparatus through a signal transmitted from a wireless communication device located in a facility. The image photographing unit photographs a surrounded image of the position measuring apparatus. The feature detection unit detects the feature from the surrounded image by analyzing the surrounded image photographed by the image photographing unit. The feature position acquiring unit acquires feature position information corresponding to the feature detected by the feature detection unit from the feature position information data in which position information is mapped according to the feature.
