PURPOSE: A thermal deformation compensation device for a machine tool and an operation method thereof are provided to stably process an object by accurately measuring a temperature change caused by the rotation of a main shaft and compensating the position of the main shaft.;CONSTITUTION: A thermal deformation compensation device (100) for a machine tool comprises a main shaft (120), a transfer system (150), a main shaft temperature sensor, a bed temperature sensor, and a controller (140). The main shaft is installed in the transfer system. The transfer system controls the vertical position of the main shaft. The main shaft temperature sensor is installed inside of the main shaft and measures the temperature of the main shaft. The bed temperature sensor is installed on a bed (130) to which an object to be processed is fixed.
