The present invention relates to a soft-output symbol detection method capable of reducing tree search processes by early discharging an intermediate result which does not have influence on a final detection result, by effectively searching the tree of the detection process, and by introducing the Dijkstra's algorithm into the detection process and to the soft-output symbol detection method of a MIMO system comprises (a) a step of early discharging a node which is included in a low cost symbol vector group with low possibility by searching the low cost symbol vector group of a searched space and by using a tree searching unit and (b) a step of calculating soft-output determination values, for each bit of the low cost symbol vector group searched by the soft-output determination calculation unit with an LLR(Likelihood Ratio).
