PURPOSE: A protective device for a subsurface water observation hole is provided to prevent damage to a hinge unit by locating a cover at the top of an extension pipe when opening the cover in order not to deliver the weight of the cover to the hinge unit. CONSTITUTION: A protective device for a subsurface water observation hole comprises an extension pipe(200) and a cover(230). A hinge unit for coupling the cover comprises a guide(210) which is fixed from top to bottom on the inner wall of the extension pipe, a slider(220) which is coupled to the guide and slid up and down, and a hinge piece(231) which is installed at the underside of the cover and connected to the upper side of the slider. The guide has guide slots(212) in which a guide pin formed in the slider is inserted.
