Fast Multimedia Huffman Decoding Method and Apparatus for Adapting Plurality of Huffman Tables

PURPOSE: A Huffman decoding method for multimedia capable of high speed processing by applying a plurality of Huffman tables and a device thereof are provided to selectively use a plurality of tables having different codes about symbols according to data quantity of each section, thereby rapidly decoding a Huffman code. CONSTITUTION: A decoder sets a predetermined index as 0 and receives a base address(S10). The decoder extracts a delimiter field and a value field of an entry corresponded to a value which the index, an input bit, and the base address are summed from a Huffman table(S20). The decoder determines whether the delimiter field of the extracted entry is 0 or 1(S30). When the delimiter field is 1, the decoder outputs the corresponding value field as a symbol value(S40).
