PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring the size of infarction in a polar map using a multigaussian mixture model are provided to accurately determine the position of infarction and to precisely measure the size of the infarction. CONSTITUTION: A heart polar map is converted into a histogram(S10). A first gaussian function and a second gaussian function are obtained(S20). The first and the second gaussian functions are crossed(S30). An extracted cross point is determined as a threshold value(S40). The region of the determined threshold value is determined as an infarction region(S50).
