PURPOSE: A radiation absorbent is provided to have an excellent radiation-absorbing effect, to allow light weight, and to prevent loss of physical properties of an absorbent. CONSTITUTION: A radiation absorbent is that 1.0-20.0 wt% of a neutron absorbing material is uniformly dispersed in 80.0-99.0 wt% of metal or a metal alloy substrate. The metal or metal alloy substrate is selected from stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, zirconium, scandium, yttrium, cobalt, chrome, nickel, tantalum, molybdenum, and tungsten. The neutron absorbing material is surface-coated with one or more surfactants of the metal group and has a size of 10-900 nm for improving a neutron absorbing ability.
